CHRONIC PAIN FROM TRADITIONAL TRAINING – NOW STRONGER, CALMER & 60% PAIN-FREE
After years of traditional weightlifting, Drew Marlier developed chronic pain throughout his body—inner knees, lower back, neck, chest, shoulders, and elbows. The discomfort made everyday activities nearly impossible: no basketball, no golf, not even long walks.
Before (June 2021):
❌Chronic pain (knees, lower back, neck, chest, elbows)
❌ High anxiety and restlessness
❌ Poor posture and movement imbalances
In-Progress (Feb 2023):
✅ 60% reduction in chronic pain
✅ Neck and lower back pain eliminated
✅ 70% reduction in anxiety
✅ No more twitchiness
✅ Significantly improved posture

“Before I started @functionalpatterns my elbow hurt most of the time, shoulders were clicking, neck and back always felt compressed, right knee and hip clicking and pain when squatting. Also, trouble getting a full breath in, and my left big toe always hurt.
Three months later, my elbow barely ever hurts unless it gets in a weird position when wrestling. My shoulders barely ever click anymore and throwing with my non-dominant side [left] feels stronger and more coordinated. My neck and back feel so much more comfortable and less compressed. My right knee and hip feel way better squatting and lunging.
I know how to get a full breath in now and my left foot barely ever hurts now unless I run on concrete too much.
In wrestling, I feel stronger overall, more efficient in my movements, and more confident in more compromising positions. I feel faster to my shots and am better able to control my opponent. My tie up game has gotten a lot better too.
My body is connecting in ways that I never thought possible. From walking and running to wrestling, it all feels so much better. I expected to gain “functional strength” which I had no idea what that even meant. Since training #functionalpatterns with Stephanie, I have developed a structural integrity in my wrestling and every day life that gives me the confidence I need to push my limits without getting hurt.”
